Chicago Trip & adventures at the doctor's office

Some of you may know that my sister and her husband invited Leah and I to visit them in Chicago the end of January. We stayed in the apartment 2 floors up that my sister's in-laws have rented for 6 months to help out Ron & Lisa after the birth of their second daughter Sophie. Grandma Deb & Grandpa Ron went back to Walnut Creek, MN for a week-leaving their aparment for Leah & I to use.

Leah had a great time & was an angel on the 4+ hour flight heading to Chicago. She was so excited to see her aunt Lisa and Mia. The girls had a great time together and except for my niece not use to sharing her mommy with anyone-the girls did great together.

The weather was cold for us Californians-below 20 degrees most days, but we did a lot of inside activities, visited the Navy Pier, Children's Discovery Museum, Chicago Library, a few indoor markets, Garfield Park Conservatory, and even my sister's gym. (For those that know Lisa-she works out for at least 1 hour a day-7 days a week) Although we only went to the gym 3 of the days during our visit and yes-I actually worked out-albeit not as aggressive as Lisa!

We arrived home last Thursday evening to Nolan trying to walk alot. He missed Leah very much, but was very good for the grandmas during the days they watched him. Leah is already looking forward to Easter when Aunt Lisa, Uncle Ron, Mia & Sophie plan to visit California next.

The highlight of my trip: When Leah whispered in my ear just before going to bed, "You are the BEST mommy in the whole world!"

Yesterday both kids had shots...Leah's 4 year shots & Nolan's monthly Synagis to prevent RSV. Nolan caught on at our Jan appt & now screams as soon as he gets undressed to be weighed & continues to scream in the exam room. Just as he gets settled down...the nurse comes in w/the shot & the screaming starts all over! Yesterday was no exception & thank goodness I convinced my mom to come with me because she was able to take Nolan from the exam room after we got him dressed as he began screaming again when a different nurse entered with 3 shots for Leah.

Leah was a trooper & did shed tears-but no screaming! She was rewarded with left over cookie dough from the cookies I made my step-dad for his birthday.

And Nolan may be turned forward-facing in his car seat by the time he's 18 months. Yesterday at his weigh-in for the Synagis he was 19lbs 8oz-gaining 1 whole pound for the month of January. Much better-as I was getting concerned since the January weigh-in he'd only gained 2 oz from Dec 3 to Jan 3. Actually-if he keeps this up-we'll be moving facing forward in March-after he turns 17mos.

Nolan is officially walking. He'd taken a few steps before my trip to Chicago, began taking more steps while I was gone, and upon my return-this past weekend-basically "walks" 90% of the time-the other 10% he either crawls or walks on his knees. Actually it's more like running or attempting to run.

I think that is all for now. Have a great Valentine's Day
