Gearing up for Halloween. We will be heading to my brother's house in Elk Grove this year so Leah can trick-or-treat in a "real" neighborhood. We went last year & had a great time.

We had a Halloween party with Leah's playgroup at the Amador Flower Farm's pumkin patch. The facke witch and other ghastly creatures still scare Leah-so not quite sure how she'll handle my brother's house decorations this year-as I hear they are quite gory!

Posted a some pics from the party. Leah woke up this morning with a scratchy sounding throat-although she did not complain of it hurting & has a runny nose. Just trying to pump her full of vitamins & make sure she's healthy enough to make it to Halloween.

Will post photos of Halloween this weekend.

October 22

Not really sure where time is going. We had a couple of families over for a BBQ/AB dinner on Saturday night and now Scott & I are kicking ourselves for not having more parties this summer even though our yard is not finished. We really enjoyed it and now the weather will be turning too cold to do it much more. Oh well...live & learn.

Leah is gearing up for Halloween and has been "practicing" being a witch everyday for oh...the last month since I found the costume in a Chicago thrift store. I finally finished Nolan's costume yesterday-he will be a black cat. No- I did not make it completely. I purchased a black onesie & sweats & made a tail & some ears for him. The kids have a Halloween party with our playgroup on Friday-so I hope to have some cute pics to post of them in their costumes.

Let's see...Scott still has a job-so far. His boss called him in yesterday to tell him that Centex will be cutting jobs by 50% corporate wide in the next few weeks-but that he will not be in that round of layoffs. Whew...perhaps we'll have health insurance for another month or two! Good thing-because I just found out our prescriptions are no longer $50 or $20 for brand or generic, but instead we'll pay 20% or 10% of the drug cost! No big deal except 2 of my 3 meds are over $1500! Oh joy!

The kids don't know-but some friends had a bunch of toys/clothes they gave us that their kids have outgrown. Some of the toys are super-cool ones we never would have bought them-so they will be getting those for Christmas-perhaps even from Santa! Sweet...

Only 4 weeks and 3 days until our Kauaii trip...which reminds me-there is still a 1 bedroom condo up for grabs if anyone is interested!

That's all for now. I'm playing with the format of the blog-so it may be changing frequently for awhile until I find one I like.
Wow! 2 weeks have flown by and I've yet found time to update the blog! Between my last update & now, here are some highlights:

Nolan had his 1 year check up & weighs a whopping 17 lbs 5oz & is 28 inches long. So no forward-facing car seat for him yet

Scott & I celebrated our 8 year anniversary on Oct. 7

Leah got to take "cubbie bear" home for the week from Awana's (which meant lots of additional clothes changing & picture taking for mom...as well as bringing snacks to Awana's this week.

Leah, Nolan & Mom attended 2 birthday parties

The whole family went with Mema & Grandpa to Angels
Camp for 2 days & visited Ironstone Winery, Big Trees, and Cousin Susie's place in Murphy's where Leah & Dad fished in the creek. (No fish caught-but enjoyed the beautiful scenery). Leah & Dad even went for a swim at the condo's "heated pool" (although Dad would beg to differ).

The kids & I picked Grammy up from the airport yesterday. She spent a week in Chicago with my sister, helping her with Mia & the baby.

To top it off-I started a small cough 2 days ago that seems to have exploded into a wanna-be cold. Needless to say-we have a busy weekend coming up-so I am laying low until Saturday! (Right-with 2 kids under 4-ha!) Thanks goodness for Disney videos-now if I could only figure out how to get a 1 year old to sit still all day!

Let the chaos begin

Not too much new this week. Ok, so Nolan's stats at his cardiologist appointment were: 28 inches long & 17 lbs. At a party this weekend-there were 3 infants, Nolan and two 6 month olds. They were the same size as my munchkin! He will have his official 1 year appointment next Monday.

As I said last week-October is plum full of activities, then we move on to the holiday months. Still planning on going on our Kauaii trip over Thanksgiving-but we do have a 1 bedroom condo available at Hanlei Bay Resort if anyone is interested. We booked 2 condos August 2007 in hopes of family going-but everyone baled on us after Lisa announced she wouldn't be going. If you are interested-seriously-let me know!

Been back from Chicago 2 full weeks now & still trying to get back into a routine...how easy it is to fall out of it. Nolan is up from his nap-so I better feed him.
